ECU remapping, often called car tuning, offers a means to improve greatly improve the performance of your car or reduce the amount you spend at the fuel pump. This method of tuning provides your ECU with data that is tailored to your needs and does not have to make allowances for drivers that use the wrong fuel or oil, or those that drive in extreme circumstances. All in all, this means potentially great improvements for your car without having to spend a fortune.
Almost all new cars that are manufactured include an ECU or engine management system. This chip includes information on gear position, throttle position, and the levels of fuel and air mix to be used. Unfortunately, though, the ECU is typically set to the generic figures that are used by modern manufacturers and this means that you are using figures that are not beast suited to the way that you drive.
Generic stock data is used by all cars of the same model. This includes cars that are driven in extreme conditions, such as extreme heat or cold. It also includes cars that are not properly maintained or are filled with less than perfect fuel or oil, and that do not use the best quality parts when repairs and replacements are required. The end result is that you have to rely on an ECU that is designed for your driving.
One Size Fits All
Stock ECU data is therefore a one size fits all solution to many different circumstances and while it proves adequate to meet certain standards throughout the world, the data is far from optimal for delivering the best performance from your vehicle. With ECU remapping from Diagtech, though, we replace this stock data with data that is optimised to how you drive your car.
The remapping is ordinarily done remotely so that we don’t have to physically touch the ECU itself. A computer is plugged into the car and the new data then replaces the existing stock data and his provides you and your car with greatly improved figures so that you can enjoy driving your car even more than before.
